Tour of the Cinque Torri on snowshoes

Cinque Torri is a small mountain range including 13 towers. Historically, five are the most important, hence its name; they are the Great Tower, the Barancio (a dwarf pine) Tower, the Latin Tower, the Fourth Tower and the English Tower.

The Cinque Torri area is a true paradise for mountain climbing fans and sportsmen, for summer and winter activities. Mountain climbers have a choice of 150 routes of various lengths and levels of difficulty, hikers have countless paths and trails, skiers have long, beautiful runs and free-riders have many off-piste choices. Besides, in winter the tour of the Cinque Torri on snowshoes is very picturesque.

An enchanted place, combining climbing, fun, nature and history as well: there you can find trenches, artifacts and caves dating back to WWI which were restored a few years ago.

From Cortina, we drive along the road taking to the Falzarego Pass, reaching the start of the Bai de Dones chairlift in about 20 minutes.

By chairlift we climb to 2,200 meters and the Scoiattoli Lodge, starting point for the route of the Tour of the Cinque Torri on snowshoes, offering a magnificent view on the surrounding Dolomites: Tofane, Cristallo, Antelao and the spiky peaks of the Croda da Lago.

On snowshoes the excursion advances among the towers, through adventurous yet totally safe passages. Circling to form a loop, it returns to the Scoiattoli Lodge, a nice stop for refreshments, where you can take the chairlift or continue on snowshoes towards the valley to the parking lot at Bai de Dones.
