Mount Formenton, 2830 metres a.s.l., is located in the Tofane mountain group, along the hogback that descends from the peak of Tofana di Dentro towards North. At the foot of the steep rock face used to lie a small glacier, which unfortunately has almost completely melted due to the recent substantial warming of the Alpine areas.
The whole area of the Tofane mountain group was a First World War battle scene and nowadays it is still possible to see along the excursion's itinerary the remains of the trenches and the relics dating back to that period.
The ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Formenton and Vallon de Raola is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable itineraries of the area. You will ski down amazing long valleys at the foot of the imposing rock faces of the Tofane, in a majestic, challenging, pristine natural environment.
We strongly recommend embarking on this challenging excursion only with perfect weather conditions. The itinerary is suitabe for expert mountaineers, well equipped with climbing rope, crampons and ice axe.
