Ferrata Ra Gusela to Nuvolau

The Via Ferrata Ra Gusela is an easy itinerary, suitable for children and families willing to try this mountain activity and learn the basic via ferrata techniques.

The actual via ferrata parts are few, all the rest of the itinerary is a beautiful, easy trail among rocks and mountain pines that leads up to the summit of Monte Nuvolau through a hanging ladder.

Information about the Via Ferrata Ra Gusela

It is possible to complete the itinerary of the Via Ferrata Ra Gusela in both ways: either descending from the mountain hut Rifugio Nuvolau or climbing up from the starting point, close to the mountain pass Passo Giau.

The strong point of this excursion, that can be connected to the easy Via Ferrata dell'Averau to form a longer, single itinerary, is undoubtedly the amazing panoramic view. From the top of Monte Nuvolau, it is actually possible to have a 360° view over the whole Dolomites range.

The overall elevation gain is approximately 400 metres, while the complete itinerary duration time is three hours.

The mountain huts along the path and nearby offering facilities and food are the following:

  • Rifugio Nuvolau
  • Rifugio Averau
  • Albergo Alpino Passo Giau
  • Rifugio Scoiattoli
  • Rifugio Cinque Torri
  • Baita Bai De Dones
