Steep Freeride Skiing in the Dolomites

At the end of November, the Dolomites experienced heavy snowfalls, with fresh snow reaching over 3 meters at high altitudes. The snowfalls were followed by a period of rain that sealed the snow cover, keeping the danger of avalanches to a minimum.

In the Dolomites this time turned out to be real opportunity for steep freeride skiing lovers to take beautiful and rewarding runs along slopes, gullies or very steep snowy faces.

Andrea, Augusto, and I skied down along the face on the western side of Lagazuoi at a 45 degrees incline. In order to get to know the trail well and see the best “line” to follow down on skis, we climbed the wall with crampons and ice pick.
