Ski mountaineering in Abruzzo

Sofia, Pietro, Alessandro and Mario spent the eastern holidays doing nice ski mountaineering in the Abruzzo region, on Mount Gran Sasso and Mount Sirente.

Two days has been perfect with good weather and then one foggy and rainy day forced the team to rest instead of going to Mount Maiella.

During the Abruzzo ski mountaineering first day the team moved to Gran Sasso climbing up along the Direttissima South, following steep gullies with crampons and ice axes.

From the summit, at 2912 mt., the view it’s amazing and it is possible to see the Adriatic Sea. The descent along the Bissolati slope with perfect snow and a 40° steep skiing gave to the team a lot of fun.

The Abruzzo ski mountaineering second day it has been very interesting climbing up on Monte Sirente approaching hiking in a lovely forest with trees and flowers and then skinning up a wide white valley to a pass and then following a ridge to the summit at 2349 mt.
