Photo Trekking to Ten Lavaredo Lakes

This trekking in highly recommended to photography fans because it unfolds in an extraordinary environment ideal where they can take fabulous panoramic pictures. The trekking unfolds along a circular ring, following trails that are never too difficult or exposed to the elements, reaching four alpine rifugi.

Finding ten lakes in just one trekking is unique. Each has its different perspective and views: from the well-known Lago di Misurina, to the smallest and well-hidden lake of Pian di Cengia.

Some of these lakes are formed by natural springs and are perennial; others are formed when the snow melts and might disappear by the end of the summer.

Our Mountain Guides are going to take you along this trekking and advise you on the best perspective and ideal time to take unique and spectacular pictures.

Information on the Trekking

The starting point is Misurina, a tourist area very popular during high season, a great Dolomitic terrace by the lake bearing the same name. We continue by car towards Lago Antorno, that mirrors the South faces of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. We ride again by car up to Rifugio Auronzo at 2300 m.

There, we start the trekking to the Forcella di Mezzo: when we reach the base of the imposing North faces of the Tre Cime, we find three lakes that display amazing colors mirroring the summits of Monte Rudo, the tower of Tre Scarperi and Monte Paterno.

Two hours later, we reach Rifugio Locatelli, a strategic location for seeing and photographing the Tre Cime in all their splendor.

We keep going on a trail leading to the Rifugio Pian de Cengia, and along this section we come across three more lakes.

The last ones are small, but not less impressive; they are located towards the end of the trekking. From there, we return once again to Rifugio Auronzo.
