ISO 2000, Tre Cime di Lavaredo Route Climbing

ISO 2000 Route Climbing to the Top of the Great Lavaredo: K.Astner, K.Brugger, June 1998

At theTre Cime di Lavaredo one of the better known and recent among the modern climbing routes progresses just to the left of the classic Comici-Dimai Route, following yellow-blackish faces on the lower part and a system of cracks and small roofs on the upper part.

Information on the ISO 2000 Route to the top of the Great Lavaredo

The ISO 2000 climbing route is protected by a number of pitch fixes on the lengths and fixes at the belays; surely it cannot be considered a sport route as it is necessary to complete the lengths with pitons and quick protections and it is very important to be able to read the climbing route in order not to stray from it.

The route totals 520 meters in length and requires 8 to 10 hours for a repetition.

The rock is one of the finest you can possibly find in the Tre Cime di Lavaredo!

You will need 12 quickdraws, two 9 mm ropes, normal climbing gear and friend, up to Camalot #3

The level of difficulty is 7a+ and VIII + with mandatory 6c+/VIII-/RS3/IV levels.

The first seven rope lengths are the most demanding, although not continuously: the difficulties reading the route are challenging due to the distance of the protections.

It is advisable to downclimb following the normal route of the Great Lavaredo or to choose anyway a more popular option. The difficulties on the face end three quarters down, at that point we usually go easily along the climbing route.

The approach is quite short, just 45 minutes from the Lavaredo Lodge, and the start is just to the left of the Comici where two small corners meet.
