A Tour from the Dolomites to Lago di Garda

Dolomiti SkiRock offers a week-long tour of family-dedicated activities in two amazing Italian locations: the Dolomites, which are among the most beautiful mountains in the world and part of UNESCO World Heritage, and the magnificent Lago di Garda, the largest lake in Italy.

Both these locations are highly regarded for their history and traditions as well as their beautiful landscapes that maintain their well protected natural characteristics. Both locations allow you to undertake recreational activities in the open air while discovering the Dolomitic mountain range, its flowers, historical trails dating back to WWI, via ferratas, and the delicious mountain cuisine. More relaxing, but not less adventurous, Lago di Garda offers a milder and more temperate climate.

Arco is a small town located to the north of the large lake at the foot of a rocky cliff where a magnificent medieval castle overlooks the entire valley. This location offers multiple activities such as canyoning, mountain bike tours and a variety of adventurous trekking.

Worth mentioning: the mountain bike itineraries that are available. This area offers over 44 perfectly marked and groomed trails running for a total of over 1370 km.

In just one week you will be able to visit two among the most beautiful locations in Italy, getting involved in interesting and pleasant outdoors activities suitable to all.

Program and Information

Day 1
Trekking to 5 Torri (about 4 to 5 hours)
The 5 Torri form a small mountain range made up of multiple towers where many climbers tackle these vertical faces (a basic climb trial is available). A perfectly refurbished and managed historical trail dating back to the 1914-1918 War unfolds around these towers. At 2200 meters the Rifugio Scoiattoli offers delicious cuisine and a unique view overlooking the highest peaks surrounding Cortina.

Day 2
Tour of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (about 5 to 6 hours)
The Tre Cime di Lavaredo are considered the most beautiful mountains in the world. Every year thousands of tourists take their pictures, enthralled by these three rocky faces. Following the Luca Innerkofler via ferrata we reach an elevation of 2700 meter at the summit of Monte Paterno, with an incredible view over the Tre Cime.

Day 3
Transfer to Arco through Dolomitic Passes.
From Cortina a taxi ride takes on a panoramic state road climbing up and down three mountain passes with an opportunity to observe mountains and valleys of the Dolomites. After a four-hour drive, we reach Lago di Garda and spend the night in a hotel in the quaint town of Arco. The afternoon is free to visit the historical downtown, the castles and take a walk on the lakeshore.

Day 4
Canyoning (about 4 hours)
Canyoning is a water sport about climbing down narrow gorges with glowing streams, typically brooks with a significant water throughput. We start at the start of the brook and we walk down inside the spectacular canyons overcoming obstacles such as waterfalls, cliffs, slides, passageways filled with water, and small lakes. The participants will be wearing special waterproof coveralls, a harness and a helmet.

Day 5
Mountain bike excursion (about 5 hours, including lunch)
When practicing mountain biking, Arco is the top location in Italy for the best trails with different lengths and level of difficulty. All are perfectly groomed and safe in order to reach a summit or a village perched below rocky faces. We strongly recommend the use of an electric bike because it allows riding long and breathtaking trails.

Day 6
The Contrabbandieri Mountaineering Trail (about 4 to 5 hours)
This trail is thrilling, to say the least; it is carved into the rock about a hundred meters straight above the lake. It was once used by smugglers to trade their merchandise heading to Limone del Garda. Today it can be handled only with a mountain guide; stretching about 2 km, its exposure and a few technical moves make this adventurous trail the best in the area.

The package includes:
• transfer from /to relevant Italian and Austrian airports
• all transportation during the tour
• UAIGM Mountain Guide fluent in English
• 4 or 5-star hotels with a half-boarding plan and lunch box
• rental for mountain bike and all gear for ferrata and canyoning
