Snowshoes excursion in the Dolomites on Mount Pore

Reaching the summit always gives a feeling of great satisfaction. Monte Pore at 2405 meters is the perfect peak for a challenging snowshoes excursion in the Dolomites.

Monte Pore, shaped like a large cone made of volcanic rock where in olden times iron was mined, is like an Ecuadorian volcano; it is located near Col di Lana, morphologically its twin brother, but less devastated by the fierce fighting during World War I. Col di Lana was indeed the scene of heavy battles during the Great War, with about 8000 casualties on the field, mostly infantry men, hence its nickname “Blood Hill”.
