Ski mountaineering on Monte Amaro in the Maiella

Monte Amaro is the highest peak in the Maiella Group. At almost 2800 meters it's the second highest peak in the Apennines after the Como Grande.

The ski mountaineering excursion on Monte Amaro in the Maiella includes the ascent from the Rava della Giumenta Bianca, a long climb requiring a good level of physical fitness. We ascend a visible couloir getting gradually steeper as we progress to a fork where we take a right to get to the top.

The descent can follow the upward route backwards or more directly from the top through narrow couloirs.
