Information about the Sentiero Ferrato Astaldi
The Sentiero Astaldi follows the narrow ledges that stretch out above the Rifugio Dibona and reach the Rifugio Pomedes. It is a fascinating, panoramic itinerary, very interesting from a geologic point of view for its peculiar type of stratified, multicolour rock.
This easy trail can either be an independent itinerary or be combined with the Via Ferrata Olivieri at Punta Anna.
The starting point is the mountain hut Rifugio Dibona, which is reachable by car through the unpaved, gravelly road that is accessible from the main Cortina/Falzarego road. From the Rifugio Dibona, follow the trail towards the Rifugio Giussani until you see the signs of the Sentiero Ferrato Astaldi.
Hike the colorful trail enjoying the amazing natural environment and the landscape, then you can choose whether coming back directly to the Rifugio Dibona or going on for a short additional distance to reach the hut Rifugio Pomedes, from where you will then come back to the excursion starting point.
The time required to complete the ascent of the Sentiero Ferrato is approximately one hour, while this easy excursion overall duration time is roughly three hours.
