Ski mountaineering at Cima Martello

Val Martello is considered one of the most beautiful valleys of Val Venosta immersed in the Stelvio National Park. A true paradise for ski mountaineering, considered one of the most beautiful alpine areas of the Alps.
The very open and sunny valley offers ski mountaineering enthusiasts a vast possibility of trips of all difficulties and lengths reaching up to the Cima del monte Cevedale at 3769 meters.
The ski mountaineering to the Cima Martello with its 3357 meters is a very satisfying trip in the fact that the itinerary is very varied and not banal. From the top the 360 degree view is spectacular towards the peaks of Forni, the Palon delle Mare, the San Matteo, the Vioz, the Gran Zebru, the Ortles and all the peaks of Solda.

ITINERARY DESCRIPTION:
By car to the parking lot at the bottom of the valley where the road ends at 2088 meters (Genziana hotel)
Follow a path on the left that would lead to a large red hotel completely abandoned…
Some "mark the way" signs number 37 first then number 31 indicate the ascent route that goes into the woods to below the slopes of the Serana peak. After passing a fairly steep and narrow valley and then another steep stretch on the left you reach the glacier that is gentler and wider and not very crevassed. The glacier leads to a fork that precedes the final stretch of the Martello peak. If conditions allow, this final slope can be tackled directly with skis on your feet.
