Ferrata Scala del Meneghel to Tofana di Rozes

This via ferrata is a ladder towards the sky: it is a unique path in the Dolomites, a 270 step ladder that dates back to the beginning of XXth century and was built by a brilliant blacksmith who was also the owner of the former mountain hut Wolf Glanvell, Luigi Gilarduzzo also known as Meneghel, who placed the rungs himself.

The Scala del Meneghel is the oldest via ferrata of the Cortina d'Ampezzo area, it was built to make it possible to ascend a vertical rock face 150 metre long that leads to the large Vallone del Masarè, at the foot of Tofana di Rozes, on the north face. It has been since the early years of the XX century a highly attractive itinerary for the tourists that were starting to come to the Dolomites mountains.

I gradini sono infissi in modo ortogonale rispetto alla parete rendendo la salita più aerea ed esposta.
