You will ski down the rills and steep slopes that stretch out between the imposing vertical rock faces, in the amazing environment that can be found only in the Dolomites.

This excursion includes a rather long skiing descent, with an overall elevation loss of 2700 metres, and a short mountaineering ascent, that contributes to making the excursion enjoyable, worth and satisfactory.

Information about the off-piste skiing and ski mountaineering excursion from Monte Cristallo to Tre Cime di Lavaredo

The excursion starting point is the car park Rio Gere. From there, we will take the cable car of Monte Cristallo and reach the mountain hut Rifugio Lorenzi (3000 metres a.s.l.) in Forcella Staunies.

The first off-piste skiing section begins there: you will ski along the Creste Bianche (white peaks) or one of the rills known as Canalini di Val Fonda, according to the decision of the Dolomiti SkiRock Mountain Guide, who will evaluate the snow conditions and decide consequently. After an amazing descent on the 1500 metre long slope, you will reach the paved road that links Cortina to the Puster Valley.

From there, you will reach by car Lake Antorno, close to Misurina, where you can have some rest and a warming coffee in the mountain hut of the same name. From the hut Rifugio Lago di Antorno, you can reach the mountain hut Rifugio Auronzo, at the foot of Tre Cime di Lavaredo, with a 20 minutes snowmobile ride.

Then, put on the ski skins and start hiking towards the mountain pass that lies between the peaks Torre Lavaredo and Sasso di Landro (2500 metres a.s.l.), reachable in 1 hour walk.

From there, start the off-piste skiing descent beneath the imposing north face of Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

Once you have passed a short, almost flat section at the foot of the rock face, the descent continues along amazing slopes that reach Lake Landro, from where you will go back to Cortina.
