Off-piste skiing Creste Bianche to Mount Cristallo

The north face of Monte Cristallo is a wonderful area for the off-piste skiing lovers, as it offers a wide range of off-piste skiing slopes, that differ from one another as for length, difficulty level and technical skills required.

The slopes are in an amazing natural environment, with a panoramic view of Croda Rossa and, on the right side, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

The off-piste skiing itinerary Pra del Vecio is the renowned slope of Creste Bianche that goes down from Forcella Staunies, which is 3000 metre high, to reach the mountain pass Cimabanche through an enjoyable decline with a 1500 metre elevation loss.

To access the off-piste skiing itinerary it is necessary to climb up with crampons and ice axe a short but demanding vertical rock face, just above the Staunies cableway arrival.

The first part of the slope is quite steep along a narrow couloir that leads to the wide amphiteatre of Creste Bianche, it is a highly satisfying skiing itinerary.

The Pra del Vecio decline ends up into a narrow canyon, where you will have to ski down among the boulders and the icefalls, until you reach a trail that enters the wood.

At the end of your skiing excursion you cannot miss the traditional celebratory beer at Nilo's mountain hut Chalet Passo Cimabanche.
