Gran Paradiso ski mountaineering tour

An amazing ski mountaineering "high route" around the Gran Paradiso massif, the only 4000 metre summit entirely within the Italian territory.

During the five-day ski mountaineering tour you will cross three alpine valleys and reach the summit of Gran Paradiso (4061 metres a.s.l.), climbing up on highly panoramic walls and skiing down long, enjoyable slopes.

During the ski mountaineering tour to Gran Paradiso you will stay overnight in the traditional high-mountain huts, that always provide amazing food, facilities and everything that is needed for a pleasant stay.

The mountain huts are the following: Rifugio Vittorio Sella (2584 metres), Rifugio Chabod (2750 metres), Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele (2732 metries), Rifugio Pontese (2200 metres).

Difficulty level: Intermediate-advanced

The elevation gain for every part of the tour is always more than 1000 metres, thus it is essential to be well trained and physically fit and a good knowledge of the descent techniques is required.

Programme of the ski mountaineering tour to Gran Paradiso

Day 1
Ski mountaineering ascent from Valnontey to Rifugio Vittorio Sella, where you will stay overnight. The ascent is relatively easy, its duration time is three hours.

Day 2
Ascent from the hut to Gran Serra (3552 metres) and descent to Grand Neyron glacier. Ascent to Bivacco Sberna and descent to the hut Rifugio Chabod, where you will stay overnight.

Day 3
Ascent to the summit of Gran Paradiso and descent towards Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele, where you will stay overnight.

Day 4
Traverse of Colle del Gran Paradiso, descent to Bivacco Ivrea and ascent to Colle dei Becchi. Descent to Rifugio Pontese, where you will stay overnight.

Day 5
Ascent to Colle del Teleccio and descent along the Valleile glacier to the Lillaz hamlet.
