Ferrata Brigata Tridentina in the Sella Range

The Ferrata Brigata Tridentina is in the large Sella mountain range, along the faces just above the nice village of Colfosco. The range looks just like a Mediaeval castle, surrounded by inaccessible vertical faces and a central tower over 3000 meters high.

This pleasant via ferrata, built by the Alpine troops of the Tridentina Brigade, is very popular thanks to the short approach; climbers can admire the breathtaking waterfall cascading from the Pisciadu and walk the thrilling hanging bridge before reaching the summit. The Cavazza Lodge set on a small alpine lake is quite charming.

Information on the Ferrata Tridentina

From the large parking lot just below Passo Gardena we follow the trail leading to the start of the via ferrata, reaching it in ten minutes.

We start the first face leading us to a large ledge providing a potential exit from the ferrata. Then we go on vertical faces of beautiful rock, up to a second large terrace where we can admire the beautiful waterfall. The third segment of the Ferrata Tridentina climbs up constantly on a vertical line by iron aiders and rungs near the Exeter Tower, where we find the picturesque hanging bridge.

Within 15 minutes we reach the Cavazza Lodge on the Pisciadu at 2585 meters. We should not underestimate the climb down, because of its length or some rather slippery sections, which follows the Val Setus, ending at the large parking lot.
