Information on the Ra Pegna Ferrata in the Tofane
To reach the start of the ferrata, we get on the Tofane chair lift to the Duca d'Aosta Lodge. In low season when the chair lifts are closed and the lodge can be reached by car on a dirt road.
From the Duca d'Aosta Lodge we climb a stretch of the ski slope, steeply descending between the two huge rocky boulders the ladies downhill race is held in January.
The ferrata climbs along the face of the great boulder on the left where the iron rope starts across a grassy traverse to the left, leading to the first vertical face.
Once the first stretch is completed, we cross to the right under a large protrusion, continuing up to the summit always one short stretch at the time.
The descent of this beautiful ferrata for beginners takes us to the opposite side, always by ferrata, reaching the start of a four-meter iron ladder leading to the base of the face.
Along the way on this wall we can see a great number of edelweiss.
