Ferrata to Cristallino

This is an easy via ferrata that leads up to Monte Cristallino d'Ampezzo. For the first part, it goes along the Sentiero Ferrato Ivano Dibona and includes the renowned Ponte Cristallo, a wooden suspension bridge hanging at an altitude of 3000 metres.

This itinerary offers the possibility to enjoy amazing views of the surrounding landscape and to visit the remains of the First World War military posts.

The excursion does not present any technically or physically challenging parts, it is suitable for families and children aged at least seven.

Information about the Via Ferrata to Cristallino d'Ampezzo

The via ferrata is easily reachable by taking the Cristallo cable car that will get you to Forcella Staunies (3000 metres a.s.l.), where the hut Rifugio Lorenzi is located.

From there, follow the trail Sentiero Ferrato Ivano Dibona and go past the ridge. After the ridge, where the trail starts descending, turn left. You will catch sight of the summit of Cristallino d'Ampezzo and then you will get there through an enjoyable via ferrata. From this sharp peak the view of the majestic Monte Cristallo and the whole Ampezzo valley below is amazing. You will descend and come back to the starting point through the same trail.

The excursion overall duration time is four hours, while the time required to complete the via ferrata ascent is two hours.
