Information about the Via Ferrata degli Alpini
This is a recently built via ferrata, perfectly equipped with a new steel cable and pitons close to one another and shielded by plastic wedges. It stretches out along the smooth western edge of Col dei Bos, with an elevation gain of approximately 500 metres.
From the parking outside the restaurant Strobel, on the road that links Cortina to Passo Falzarego, it is possible to access the approach path that leads to the via ferrata. It is also possible to start hiking on the trail from Passo Falzarego itself.
The climb is not particularly challenging (average difficulty) but varied in its different parts, as it includes hanging and vertical pitches, dihedrals and ledges. The pitch that passes the crest and links the first part of the via ferrata to the second one is truly amazing and panoramic.
The arrival point of this via ferrata is a grassy meadow from where it is possible to enjoy an unforgettable view over the main Dolomites peaks: Antelao, Pelmo, Cinque Torri and Nuvolau, Croda da Lago, Civetta, Marmolada, Pale di San Martino, ...
The time required to complete the ascent of Ferrata degli Alpini is approximately two hours and a half, while the total duration time of the whole excursion is four hours and a half.
