Excursion to Lake Sorapiss

Trekking from Passo Tre Croci to the turquoise lake on the Sorapiss and Rifugio Vandelli.

Under the great north face of the Sorapiss Mountain and the Dito di Dio (Finger of God) at an elevation of 2000 there is a lake set apart from all the other dolomitic lakes because of the incredible turquoise color of its water.
Lake Soprapiss is fed by the glacier of the same name and its typical color is caused by its water coming in contact with different rock dusts during its journey underground.

The lake is surrounded by a large variety of flowers as well as fire red rhododendrons which create a magnificent natural frame to a landscape of incomparable beauty.

Near the lake, at 1928 meters, we find the Rifugio Vandelli. There you can stop and enjoy excellent typical mountain dishes.
