Climbing route on Tofana di Rozes, Via del Pilastro

This climbing route was opened by E. Costantini and R. Apollonio in 1944.

It is an amazing ascent of the majestic and overhanging Pilastro Sud (southern pinnacle) of Tofana di Rozes. The climbing route along the narrow crack that goes up the pinnacle from bottom to top requires high technical skills.

The key pitches of this route are free climbing pitches: they consist of two roofs and a large overhanging crack called "schiena di mulo" (mule back), that require great muscle strength and agility.

The rock is solid, even though some sandstone parts may be a bit slippery. The route is well-equipped with bolts on the most overhanging and difficult belay points.
